Nepal Floods: Flash flooding in Melamchi kills 7, leaves 60 missing

June 17, 2021: Flash flooding in Helambu and Melamchi areas of Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal have claimed lives of seven people and left sixty others missing.

Two fatalities have been identified as Chinese national working at Melamchi Drinking Water Project. Still six Melamchi Drinking Water Project staffs have gone missing including one Chinese national, three Indians and two Nepalese.

The recent flood and landslides have damaged around 260 houses and displaced more than 600 people.

The helicopters of Nepal Army have been deployed for flood management and the rescue efforts.
