3.4 magnitude earthquake in Maynardville, Tennessee today

March 5, 2019: Magnitude 3.4 earthquake has been recorded in Maynardville, Tennessee today, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

According to the USGS, the earthquake occurred at around 3:56 p.m. near Lone Mountain on Kettle Hollow Road in Union County at a depth of 17 km.

The epicenter was located 40.7 km far from the Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. The exact epicenter was at the intersection of gray road and Kettle Hollow road.

Light to weak tremor was felt in the radius of 30km from the epicenter. USGS received earthquake felt reports from Powder Springs, Luttrell, Maynardville, Washburn, New Tazewell, Sharps Chapel, Blaine, Corryton, Rutledge and Speedwell.


USGS originally reported the earthquake of 3.3 magnitude near Maynardville but later upgraded the rating. No damage or injuries have been reported.
