Fash floods in Tenerife, Spain kill 5

February 16, 2019: Flash floods caused by an intense storm claimed lives of five people on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife.

According to Pilar Merino Tromboso, the Interior Ministry representative in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 224 liters (59 gallons) per square meter of rain fell on the city in four hours Sunday.

The Red Cross has deployed 120 volunteers, 10 ambulances and off-board boats to help in the flood rescue operation.
