Emergency declaration as flooding in Tennessee kills 3

February 25, 2019: A state of emergency has been declared in Tennessee as severe flooding claimed lives of at least three people this month.

One man drowned in Knoxville after becoming trapped in his car when he drove onto an inundated roadway. A man died in Hawkins County, northeastern Tennessee, when his pickup truck slid down an embankment during a mudslide. Third fatality occurred in the central part of the state, just west of Nashville.
