Violent storms kill 5 people in New York and Connecticut

May 16, 2018: Violent storms in parts of the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic have claimed lives of at least five people.

A woman, aged 58, died after a tree fell on her vehicle in the town of Newburgh, New York. An 11-year-old girl died in Newburgh, New York, when a large tree fell on the vehicle she was in, police said. 

A 41-year-old woman was killed in New Fairfield, Connecticut, when a tree struck her car during the storm Tuesday. Similarly, in Danbury, Connecticut, a man was also killed when a tree fell on his vehicle.

According to CNN, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, a 31-year-old man was killed when a tree fell on his car, the county coroner's office said.
