Magnitude 4.5 earthquake hits Eastern Nepal; Epicenter in Sankhuwasabha


Magnitude 4.5 fresh earthquake rattled Sankhuwasabha district Tuesday morning at 08:45 am, Nepal Seismological Center reported.

According to Seismological Center, the epicenter was located near Mangtewa. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km.

This is the fresh earthquake and not related to the aftershock of Gorkha earthquake. Two days ago, magnitude 5.5 strong tremor rattled western and central Nepal with epicenter in Gorkha district. Atleast one person got injured by the earthquake.

Based on earthquake depth and epicenter location, tremor will have been well felt by the people of Khandbari, the district headquarter of Sankhuwasabha and adjoining areas of Taplejung, Khotang and Dhankuta.

No damage or injuries have been reported.

Sankhuwasabha lies in Koshi Zone in Eastern Development Region of Nepal.
