Hailstorm collapses shopping mall roof in Krugersdorp, South Africa; 5 injured

At least five people have been injured after hailstorm collapsed a section of the roof at Key West Shopping Centre in Krugersdorp, west of Gauteng, South Africa Saturday afternoon.

According to Krugersdorp News, the Key West Shopping center in Krugersdorp was evacuated after its roof collapsed around 4 p.m. local time.

Community Policing Forum members from various sectors along with Mogale City’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) and Public Safety arrived the shopping center after its roof collapsed.

According to The Weather Channel, the South African Weather Service had issued a number of severe thunderstorm watches and warnings in the northeastern portion of the country Saturday afternoon and evening, including Johannesburg and the nearby national capital, Pretoria.
