Lightning, thunderstorm in Maharashtra kill 26

Lightning and thunderstorm across Maharashtra, India have claimed lives of at least 26 people in the past 24 hours.

At least thirteen people died when lightning struck the Marathwada region. Another lightning killed eight people in Vidarbha. Most of the victims were farmers and farm labourers, Yahoo News reported.

Similarly, lightning killed three in Ahamadnagar district and two in Nashik district.

Heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning have been lashing various parts of the state for the past three days. The Pune Metrological Department has predicted more heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning for the next two days.
