Severe storms in Smithfield and Maryland kill 5

Severe storms in United States have claimed lives of at least five people and left hundreds of thousands of people without power in New York and Pennsylvania.

Four people died in Smithfield, a town between Syracuse and Utica in New York state. Storm at a church summer camp near Manchester, Maryland claimed life of a boy and injured eight other children, The Reuters reported.

Storms have also left about 72,000 homes and businesses without power, most in central and northern New York.
