The death toll from Tacloban Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) could reach 10,000, Philippines official said today.
Latest report comes from Regional police chief Elmer Soria quoting Leyte provincial Gov. Dominic Petilla.
There are varying estimates of the number of fatalities, including at least 1,200 according to the Philippines Red Cross. Tacloban Typhoon Yolanda is predicted to hit central Vietnam and the port city of Da Nang today. More than 2,00,000 people have evacuated to shelters.
Similarly, a level three emergency response has been issued in China to prevent damage from the approaching Typhoon Yolanda, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said.

Tacloban Typhoon Yolanda is the strongest tropical cyclone on record to ever make landfall and the 4th strongest tropical cyclone in world history. Typhoon Yolanda is believed to be 3.5 times more forceful than Hurricane Katrina.
Tacloban is the Leyte provincial capital of 200,000 people and the biggest city on Leyte Island.
