Moderate earthquake in Santo Domingo today

M 4.9 moderate earthquake shakes Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 8 km NNW of Pimentel and 84 km N of Santo Domingo. It was 15.4 miles deep.

People in Nagua rushed to streets in panic. Electrical power and telephone services were down in Nagua, Dominican Today reported.

Earthquake in Santo Domingo today also led the evacuation of the Acropolis Center. However no injury has been reported.
