Heat alert in Hungary

The National Medical Office has issued a second-degree heat alert in Hungary effective today.

The dry weather will arrive in the Carpathian Basin this weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Around 40C is possible in western Hungary Sunday. Roads in Budapest will be cooled during the night, The Budapest Times reported.

The Hungarian Grand Prix, a motor race held annually in Hungary will also have to deal with the temperature monitoring system.

The 2007 European heatwave affected most of Southern Europe and the Balkans.
