Flash flooding in Orange County

Heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding in Orange County and the Town of Chapel Hill.

The Chapel Hill Fire Department immediately activated the Emergency Operation Center to respond at around 3:00 p.m.

Emergency center was flooded with reports of downed tress, powers, natural gas leaks, basement flooding and others, WNCN has written in its online edition.

Several people were seen rushing to the higher ground.

The Red Cross has already set up an emergency shelter nearby Smith Middle School.
