Flood claims 2 lives in Xinjiang, China

Flooding and landslides in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China have claimed lives of at least two people and affected 45,000 others.

Heavy rainfall has damaged or destroyed 1,305 houses. Flood damage is expected about 32.4 million U.S. dollars.

A circular by the National Commission for Disaster Reduction today has urged related departments to step up monitoring and early warning for possible disasters.
Related departments are also said to put forward emergency response plans and help in evacuating disaster-threatened people and distributing disaster-relief materials.
