Germany lightning injures 39 on Father’s Day

A lightning strike in Germany has injured at least 39 people with eight in serious condition, Germany based The Focus reports. Lightning hit near Dabel in Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania.

About 500 people were at the fairground in Dabel east of Schwerin celebrating Father’s Day party when lightning struck.

Most of the people suffered burns and shocks.

Two rescue helicopters and ambulances were called to the village of Dabel.

Ascension Day (Father's day) is a public holiday in all German states.
