The Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) first informed the civil protection department about the unusual seismicity in the Hekla volcano in Southern Iceland.
Note that the state of uncertainty means that surveillance is increased and precautionary measures should be taken. Under 'state of uncertainity', emergency teams should be on stand by.
The Icelandic Met Office also raised the alert level for air traffic around Hekla to yellow.

Following News Of Iceland, seismic activity has been taking place in the Hekla volcano from the past two weeks, at around 11 km depth. The Icelandic Meteorological Office has recorded seven earthquakes.
Hekla volcano erupted last in February 2000 without any warning. Hekla is a popular destination for hiking.
