  • Flooding in Lebanon
    -Three killed and 55 others reported to be injured in flood disaster in Lebanon.
    -Rare storm and heavy rainfall blocked roads from the mountains to Beirut and other coastal areas of Lebanon.
    -Powerful winds at 100 km/hour cause damage along the coastal highway between Sidon and the rest of south Lebanon.
    -It is believed to be the strongest storms in the last 25 years.
    -Hundreds of people are trapped in their cars in Beirut, Karantina region of Lebanon.
    -Lebanon education ministry has announced the closure of all public and private schools on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday
    -Israel has also been hit by flooding and forecasters predict the heavy rain will continue for another 48 hours.
    -Stormy weather caused damage and injured more than 10 Israelis. Herzliya train station in Israel is still closed.

  • M 2.9 weak shallow earthquake in Oklahoma City Urban Area, Oklahoma (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located just1 km SSE of Spencer. It will have well felt by the people of Oklahoma City, Spencer and Choctaw.

    Barbara Scott from Okmulgee, Ok:
    Sitting in my livingroom on Monday the 6th ....3 times in about 10 min it felt like the dryer was out of sink. Glasses were clanging together house was shaking. Than today on the news we were told we had an earthquake. On the news in Tulsa they said people thought they felt an explosion YESTERDAY that was not an explosion I felt 3 times. Thanks Barbara Scott
  • M 5.5 strong aftershocks Off the Coast of Southeastern Alaska (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 93 km SSW from Port Alexander. It will have well felt by the people of Edna Bay, Craig, Petersburg and Sitka. Magnitude 7.7 earthquake caused Tsunami at Port Alexander and Sitka, Alaska on January 4, 2013.

  • M 5.7 strong shallow earthquake in Aegean Sea (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 47 km WSW of Bozcaada. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Myrina, Bozcaada, Petra, Ezine, Moria, Kalloni and Mytilini. People of Alexandroupolis, Chios, Izmir and Karyes will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

    Update
    -Turkish seismological Institute is reporting a Magnitude Ml 6.2 at 8.8 km. The earthquake struck in Mediterranean waters, close to Lemnos and the Turkish coast.
    -Tremor was well felt across Greece, Turkey, Serbia and Bulgaria.
    -Tremor also caused some panic among the residents of Turkish megapolis Istanbul.
  • M 5.4 moderate earthquake near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 39 km depth) with epicenter located 67 km ESE of Hachinohe. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Misawa, Miyako, Ichinohe, Yamada, Aomori, Misawa-shi and Morioka.
    07:51 UTC (local time Tuesday, January 08, 2013 at 04:51 PM @ epicenter)
  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Central Turkey (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 3 km ENE of Tut. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Besni, Golbasi and Adiyaman.

  • M 2.6 weak shallow earthquake in Poland (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 6 km E Lubin. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt as far as  Legnica.
