  • Flooding in Japan
    -Death toll from Japan floods has risen to 26. Still 6 people are missing in Kumamoto, Oita and Fukuoka prefectures.
    -Following Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), more rain and thunderstorms expected today.

  • Flooding in Tulunan, Philippines
    -At least 337 families affected by the flash floods in Tulunan town in North Cotabato.
    -F. Cajelo; Minapan (Purok 1, 2, 3, 6, 7), La Esperanza, Poblacion Purok 8, and Galidan were the villages to be hardest hit.

  • M 5.6 strong but harmless earthquake near the North Coast of Papua, Indonesia (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 286 km NNE from Enarotali. It will have just faintly felt by the people of Manokwari and Jayapura.

  • M 3.0 weak shallow earthquake in Northern Italy (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 6 km E Novi di modena. It will have well felt by the people of Modena too.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Central Peru with epicenter located 35 km ENE of Abancay. It will have well felt by the people of Santa Ana, Cusco and Andahuaylas.

  • M 5.4 moderate earthquake in Kamchatka, Russia (@ 82 km depth) with epicenter located 68 km SE Klyuchi. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of Yelizovo, Nikol'skoye and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy.

  • M 2.7 shallow earthquake in France (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 2 km W San remo. It will have well felt by the people of Sanremo and Nice.

  • Flooding in Ruapehu, New Zealand
    -Two primary schools, Maitere and Ohura, evacuated as heavy rainfall caused flooding in Northern Islands.
    -Severe weather forecast today (Monday) in Wellington, Waikato, Bay Of Plenty, Taranaki and the Wairarapa.
  • Flooding in St. George, Utah
    -Flash flood reported in St. George. The western part of the city was hit hardest.
    -No injuries or major accidents reported.

  • Hurricane Fabio
    -As of 01:00 UTC, Hurricane Fabio was located 1105 km WSW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Fabio is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph.
    -Fabio is expected to become a tropical storm today and a tropical depression on Tuesday.
  • Post-Tropical Cyclone Emilia
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TC Emilia was located 1845 km ESE of Hilo, Hawaii.
    -Emilia is moving toward the west near 18 mph.
  • Tropical Depression Eight
    -As of  01:00 UTC, TD Eight was located 575 nm east- southeast of Kadena AB, Okinawa.
    -Tropical depression Eight is forecast to strike South Korea as a tropical storm at about 02:00 GMT on 18 July.

Natural Disaster News
  • Tornado in Poland
    -One killed (resident of Wycinki) and 10 other injured as several tornadoes touched down in northern Poland.
    -More than 100 houses reported to be destroyed.
  • Wildfire in Crna Poda forest, Montenegro
    -Wildfires in Crna Poda forest have damaged hundreds of acres of forests and about a dozen houses.
    -The forest is located within the UNESCO-protected Tara river canyon.
  • Heavy rain and lightning in Austin, Texas
    -Heavy rain and lightning reported across the Travis and Williamson counties.
    -Several people evacuated with center established in the Clay Madsen Rec Center at 1600 Gattis School Road.
