June 23, 2017: At least two policemen have been killed and two others have been missing as landslide near Kalikhola along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section swept away a van carrying four police personnel. The police van and a truck plying the road were suddenly hit by landslide near Kalikhola at 1:05 am., The Himalayan Times reported.

Flooding in Sri Lanka (Xinhua News Agency) June 2, 2017: Cyclone mora caused massive flooding and landslides throughout Sri Lanka claiming lives of atleast 203 people and left 96 others missing. According to the Disaster Management Centre, more than 400,000 people have been affected by the severe rains and strong winds that started on 24 May, 2017. The recent flooding is the worst to hit the island since May 2003, when 250 people were killed and 10,000 homes destroyed. More than 600,000 people are currently temporarily homeless after the landslides and floods hit Sri Lanka.

April 6, 2017: At least four people have been confirmed dead and more than 30 others have been missing after a landslide struck Indonesia's Java island. According to Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, the landslide stretched 1.5 kilometers long which engulfed farmers harvesting ginger in Banaran village in East Java province's Ponorogo district.

April 3, 2017: Flash flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in the city of Mocoa, Putumayo, Colombia have claimed lives of at least 254 people and injured more than 400 people. President Juan Manuel Santos has declared a state of emergency in the region. More than 1,000 emergency personnel, including soldiers and local police have been deployed to help the rescue efforts.

October 26, 2016: A landslide claimed lives of at least seven people and buried more than 10 others along a mountainous stretch of Colombia's main highway between Bogota and Medellin on Wednesday. "Others four people have been injured and taken to a local hospital," Reuters reported disaster management chief for the northwestern department of Antioquia, Gilberto Mazo as saying. According to the authorities, the landslide disaster occurred due to heavy rain in the mountainous area.

At least 74 people have died in landslides and floods in different parts of Nepal since Monday. The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed the fatalities with highest death toll from Pyuthan district. Landslide and floods in Pyuthan district claimed lives of 39 people followed by Gulmi with death toll at 7.

Locals have been asked to stay alert after a massive landslide blocked Tamor River at Malbase Mitlung in Sawadin-1 of Taplejung district on Sunday. A landslide in Kerauja VDC-3 of Gorkha district of Nepal has claimed lives of three people and injured three others. The injured people are having treatment at a local health post in Gorkha. The landslide disaster occurred during a reconstruction of road damaged by 2015 Gorkha earthquake , The Himalayan Times reported. Landslides and floods in southern Japan have claimed lives of three people and left three others missing. A 92-year-old man died after a landslide hit his house in Kamiamakusa city, Yahoo News reported quoting a local disaster management official. Another 79-year-old man drowned in a flooded ditch in the town of Kosa.
