Philippines: 5 killed in floods, landslides in Mindanao

January 17, 2017: Floods and landslides caused by torrential rainfall have claimed lives of at least five people and injured 30 others, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

Two people died in Gingoog City, one each in Magsaysay, Opol towns and Cagayan de Oro.

Over 4,000 people have been displaced due to flooding in Cagayan de Oro and nearby areas.

The city council has kept Cagayan de Oro under a state of calamity.
