Thailand: Tsunami warning for 6 provinces including Phuket and Krabi

March 24, 2019: Tsunami warnings have been issued by Thailand's department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in six provinces including Phuket and Krabi. A tsunami warning has been issued for Phuket, Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi and Satun following two earthquakes in the Indian Ocean. The tsunami warning was issued after magnitude 5.0 and 5.2 earthquakes in Ocean Ocean around Andaman Islands . The department has asked the six provinces to keep following the situation in case tsunami hits, Xinhua reported. Phuket and Krabi are some of Thailand’s most popular beaches with huge numbers of tourist inflow.

Tremor felt in Chiang Mai, Thailand: TMD records M4.5 earthquake

Earthquake'e epicenter map (EMSC) February 20, 2019: An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 has been recorded in Thailand today at 04:05 pm THA. The Seismological Bureau Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) measured the earthquake at the depth of 10km. The epicenter was located 29 km W of Phayao, Thailand. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), light to weak tremor with MMI II-III was felt in Phayao Phayao, Sansai Chiang Mai, Maerim Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Lampang. No preliminary damage or injuries have been recorded.

19 killed in southern Thailand floods

January 8, 2017: Flash flooding in southern Thailand have claimed lives of at least 19 people and affected more than 700,000 people over the past week. Thailand's Meteorological Department has forecast outbreaks of heavy to very heavy rain for 13 provinces for two more days.

Earthquake felt in Bangkok today; Buildings evacuated

Tremors have been recorded in Bangkok at 5.34 Thai time on August 24, 2016 forcing the people to evacuate from the higher buildings. The Meteorological Department's Seismology Office confirmed the tremor as the result of magnitude 6.8 earthquake with epicenter in Myanmar located about 416 km northwest of Muang district of Mae Hong Son. 

Storm warning for Gulf of Thailand; alert from Feb 5-9, 2016

The northeasterly monsoon is expected to bring rainstorm and heavy seas in Gulf of Thailand from Feb 5-9, 2016 forcing the disaster prevention and mitigation teams to be on alert in nine southern provinces. The nine provinces are Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, The Bangkok Post has written quoting Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department chief Chatchai Promlert .

Thailand earthquake 2014 recorded as strongest so far!

Update 22:45 UTC This is what Xinhua News Agency has written: "Suchatvee Suvansavat, head of the Engineering Institute of Thailand, announced on Tuesday that the 6.3-magnitude earthquake with a seven-kilometer-deep epicenter in Phan district of the Thai northernmost province of Chiang Rai was the country's strongest tremor." Update 2014/05/06; 05:10 UTC -According to the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, an 83-year-old woman died when the brick walls of her house collapsed onto her in Chiang Rai's Mae Lao district of Thailand. -Approximately one hundred repeated shocks have been reported within 24 hours by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center. Magnitude 6.0, the strongest earthquake in 100 years hits Thailand today, Earthquake Report mentioned quoting the Thai sources. Typhoon Wutip leaves 74 missing in China, Thailand, Vietnam prepare flooding

At least seventy-four fishermen have been missing after typhoon Wutip sunk three fishing boats in the South China Sea. Rescuers however rescued 14 other fisherman from the boats which were sailing from the southern province of Guangdong, Xinhua reported. At least 10 ships and six planes have been involved in rescue operations. More than 8,000 villagers in Quang Tri province of Vietnam have been moved to safe ground. Thai floods hit 7 provinces

Floods have hit seven provinces in Thailand claiming lives of at least three people since Monday. The Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge over the Moei River has been closed due to heavy rainfall, the Disaster Relief Department said. Around 25,000 people have been evacuated to relief camps after floods in Karen State, Myanmar . The 2011 Thai floods had claimed lives of at least 815 people. Summer storm in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand

Summer storm in Nakhon Si Thammarat province of Thailand has damaged seven houses and three factories, National News Bureau of Thailand mentions. Pak Phun Subdistrict is reported to be hardly hit by the recent summer storm. No injury has been reported. Similarly another storm in Surin province of Thailand has damaged around 150 houses. Storms made 20 and 50 familes homeless respectively in Jom Phra and Muang district of Thailand. Disaster relief operations for the victims have been set up. Bangkok thunderstorm causes floods

Thunderstorm in Bangkok, Thailand has caused flooding and downed many trees, National News Bureau Of Thailand mentions. Flood waters caused traffic jams at Ngamwongwan, Prachasongkhroh, Vibhawadi-Rangsit and Sukhumwit region. Biggest summer storms in 50 years hit Chiang Rai, Thailand

Latest summer storm in Chiang Rai province of Thailand has damaged more than 1,400 houses. Storm caused huge damage in seven different district of Chiang Rai province. Storm has also knocked down at least 11 high voltage electricity poles in the area. Storm damaged at least 500 houses in Fang district of Chiang Mai Province.
