Flash floods in Angola kill 41 people

January 9, 2020: According to the civil protection authorities of Angola, as of 10 January, flash floods have claimed lives of 41 people and affected around 11,190 people.

Twelve out of 18 provinces in Angola have been hit by the violent downpour. The provinces of Luanda, Luanda Sul, Luanda Norte, Bié, Benguela, Huambo, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Malanje, Namibe, Uíge and Zaire have been affected by flash floods. 

Flash floods have damaged more than 2,400 houses, 12 churches and four bridges.
