Flash floods in Angola kill 41 people

January 9, 2020: According to the civil protection authorities of Angola, as of 10 January, flash floods have claimed lives of 41 people and affected around 11,190 people. Twelve out of 18 provinces in Angola have been hit by the violent downpour. The provinces of Luanda, Luanda Sul, Luanda Norte, Bié, Benguela, Huambo, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Malanje, Namibe, Uíge and Zaire have been affected by flash floods.  Flash floods have damaged more than 2,400 houses, 12 churches and four bridges.  Main Post: Recent Natural Disasters List January 9, 2020

Angola floods kill 11, leave thousands homeless

March 24, 2017: Deadly floods triggered after heavy rainfall in Angola have claimed lives of at least 11 people and left thousands homeless. Heavy rainfall hit northern parts of Angola between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday destroying about 700 houses.

Flash floods in Lubango kill 24 Angolans; 30 reported missing

Flash floods at Tchioco neighbourhood, in Lubango, southern Huila province of Angola have claimed lives of at least 24 people. According to a press release from the Civil Affairs Office to the Presidency of the Republic, 24 people died when the Capitão river bridge collapsed as a result of the rains. 

Flooding in Angola claims 9

Flooding in Angola has claimed lives of nine people. Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Angolan capital, Luanda where four people are still reported to be missing. Floods in Angola have damaged more than 500 homes in Samba and Coreia area only. A road near Luanda's port has been closed due to landslide.
