Earthquake-triggered avalanche in Nepal kills 1, damages houses

November 28, 2016: Magnitude 5.6 moderate earthquake hit the border of Ramechhap and Solukhumbu district Monday morning, Nepal Seismological Center reported.

-Earthquake triggered an avalanche at the base camp of Amadablam mountain. A Nepali Sherpa mountaineer, Lakpa Thundu Sherpa, a permanent resident of Pangboche, Solukhumbu district died in the avalanche disaster. Similarly, British national Ciaran Hill got injured due to avalanche and having treatment in Kathmandu.
-An individual was injured after jumping from a hotel building in Syabrubesi, Rasuwa.
-Two houses were damaged in Chaurikharka. Another one house in Pokhara.

November 28, 2016: Magnitude 5.6 moderate earthquake hit the border of Ramechhap and Solukhumbu district Monday morning, Nepal Seismological Center reported.

The tremor was felt at 5:20 am local time with epicenter located 18.8 km WNW of Namchebazar.

The tremor was widely felt across eastern and central Nepal including the capital Kathmandu.

Tso Rolpa Glacial Lake lies NW of the epicenter area. Tso Rolpa, one of the biggest glacial lakes in Nepal, located at an altitude of 4,580 metres is also known for the unstable dam threatening the outburst.

Nepal Seismological Center has confirmed it as an aftershock of 2015 Gorkha earthquake. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
