Bhotekoshi River sweeps away 21 houses of Tatopani area

Flooding in Bhotekoshi River has swept away at least 21 houses of Tatopani area in Sindhupalchowk district along Nepal-China border on Tuesday night.

It is believed to be the biggest flood in the Bhotekoshi River in 35 years. However, no human casualties have been recorded as of Wednesday evening.

The floodwater swallowed 15 houses at Liping Bus Park area of Tatopani.

The swollen river flood swept away a bridge and two tippers parked near the Liping-based Customs Office, The Himalayan Times reported quoting Gokarnamani Duwadi, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sindhupalchok.

According to My Republica, Bhotekoshi River flood has swept away embankments of local hydropower project, a suspension bridge, Tatopani-based Mansarobar Boarding School, four sugar mills, other physical infrastructure and vehicles.
