Major Natural Disasters Today
  • Avalanche at Siachen Glacier, Jammu and Kashmir
    -Aleast 10 soldiers have been missing after an avalanche struck the Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The avalanche occurred near the de facto border with Pakistan.
    -Soldiers from the Madras Regiment were buried under the snow deluge triggered on the northern side of the glacier early Wednesday morning. Click for detail report on Siachen avalanche
  • Multiple tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama
    -Atleast nine tornadoes ripped across parts of eastern Mississippi and western Alabama Tuesday.
    -A tornado damaged homes, church and community college in Mississippi.
    -More than 14,000 Alabama Power customers were without power, mostly in Birmingham.
  • Wildfire in Texas, USA
    -Fire fighters have been responding to a blaze near the town of Martha.
    -No structural damage or injuries have been reported.

  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Indonesia (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km N of Kupang. Weak tremor will have been felt by the people of Kupang, Soe and Kefamenanu.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Russia (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 40 km WSW of Turka. Slight tremor will have been felt by the people of Onokhoy and Ulan-Ude.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Japan (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km SE of Iwaki. Light to weak shaking will have been felt by the people of Kitaibaraki, Takahagi and Hitachi.

  • M 3.9 light earthquake in British Virgin Island (@ 42 km depth) with epicenter located 65 km NE of Road Town. Weak tremor will have been felt by the people of Road Town, Tortola.

  • Flooding in Asheville, North Carolina
    -A dozen of roads in Asheville have been closed due to high water during the storm.
    -A flash flood warning has been issued for areas south of Vein Mountain Road and Polly Spout Road.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • No new cyclone formed today.

A: Yes, there is no doubt. Numbers of earthquakes are recorded in Nepal on daily basis but they are so small that they are not even felt by the people. If you are asking about an earthquake to occur on fix date and time, I would say it is impossible to predict such things. 
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), "Stating that an earthquake is going to occur today is not really predicting earthquakes. To date, they cannot be predicted. But anyone, on any day, could make this statement and it would be true." 
Earthquake prediction may some day become a reality, but only after much more is learned about earthquakes. Meanwhile, you may have heard different rumors. Some turns to be co-incidentally correct. But not every time. Please don't run behind the rumors!

Flooding in Mauritius capital Port Louis: 11 killed

Recent flash flooding in Mauritius has claimed at least eleven lives. About 152 mm rainfall has been recorded in Port Louis within three hours.

-Water supply is currently disrupted in the Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.
-Still one person from Grand Gaube, northern Mauritius is reported to be missing.

One more body is reported to be found. If the report is true, death toll would be 12. However have to wait for the official message.
