Major Natural Disasters Today
  • Severe weather in Mississippi
    -A tornado formed east of Wesson, the National Weather Service said.
    -The tornado knocked down several trees along Highway 429, east of Thomastown in Leake County.
    -Tornado warnings were issued for several areas of central Mississippi late Monday morning, including Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties.
    -On Monday evening, a large tornado was reported in Escambia County, located along the western end of the Florida Panhandle causing extensive damage to as many as 30 homes.
    -Atleast two employees of a Pizza Hut restaurant in Alexandria were injured.
  • Stormy weather in parts of UAE and Oman
    -Stormy weather lashed parts of UAE and Oman on Tuesday with Khorfakkan and Dibba having worst rainfall.
    -Heavy downpour has been recorded in parts of Khorfakkan, Sharjah, along with Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

  • M 4.8 moderate earthquake in Central California (@ 8 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km WNW of Big Pine. Light shaking of MMI IV will have been felt by the people of Big Pine, Bishop, West Bishop and Dixon Lane-Meadow Creek. Similarly, people of Mammoth Lakes, Lone Pine, Sanger, Reedley, Dinuba, Parlier and Selma.

  • M 5.4 moderate earthquake in Peru (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 99 km W of Camana. Weak tremor will have been felt by the people of Mollendo, Puquio and Minas de Marcona.

  • M 3.9 light earthquake in Southern California (@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located 5 km NNW of Big Bear City.   • M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Taiwan (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 25 km NNW of Taitung City. Weak tremor will have been felt by the people of Yujing, Jiayi Shi and Kaohsiung.

  • The South African Weather Service has warned of heat wave conditions over the central and northern parts of Gauteng from Monday.
  • The New York City Emergency Management Department has issued a travel advisory for Monday and Tuesday in regards to the National Weather Service's winter weather forecast. The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a Snow Alert effective 9 a.m. Monday.

A: Yes, there is no doubt. Numbers of earthquakes are recorded in Nepal on daily basis but they are so small that they are not even felt by the people. If you are asking about an earthquake to occur on fix date and time, I would say it is impossible to predict such things. 
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), "Stating that an earthquake is going to occur today is not really predicting earthquakes. To date, they cannot be predicted. But anyone, on any day, could make this statement and it would be true." 
Earthquake prediction may some day become a reality, but only after much more is learned about earthquakes. Meanwhile, you may have heard different rumors. Some turns to be co-incidentally correct. But not every time. Please don't run behind the rumors!

Flooding in Mauritius capital Port Louis: 11 killed

Recent flash flooding in Mauritius has claimed at least eleven lives. About 152 mm rainfall has been recorded in Port Louis within three hours.

-Water supply is currently disrupted in the Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.
-Still one person from Grand Gaube, northern Mauritius is reported to be missing.
