Flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of atleast 46 people and affected more than 200,000 people in 11 of the Myanmar's 14 states and divisions.
The Burmese government has declared disaster zones for Chin State, Arakan State, Magwe Division and Sagaing Division. Authorities have declared "national disaster-affected regions".
Western Rakhine and Chin states are among the four worst affected areas. According to AFP news agency, more than 7,000 people are sheltering in rescue camps at 23 monasteries in Minbyar town.
Landslides in Chin State - south of Sagaing - have destroyed 700 homes in the state capital Haka, Aljazeera reported.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed for international aid to help provide food, temporary shelter and clothing for more than 210,000 people.
A total of 1,387 schools have been temporarily closed in the flood ffected regions of Myanmar.
The Union Election Commission (UEC) has extended the November election registration deadline for another week.
