Hailstorm in Vietnam causes widespread havoc

Hailstorm in Da Lat City in the Central Highlands' Lam Dong Province of Vietnam has caused widespread havoc.

Heavy hailstorm hit three wards of 9, 11 and 12 in Da Lat City collapsing dozens of houses and greenhouses, Viet Nam News reported.

Another hailstorm hit Madaguoi Commune in Da Huoai District blowing the roofs of about 100 houses, destroying about 30. Two school buildings also collapsed in the storm disaster.

Da Huoai District authorities have mobilised all forces, including policemen, soldiers and young people to help those in difficulties, Vietnam net reported.

The Lam Dong Province's hydrological and meteorological forecasting centre has predicted more rainfall and strong winds in coming days.

Hailstorm in Vietnam's Lao Cai area had damaged around 10,000 houses in March 2013.
