If you are living in Corbin and London areas of Southern Kentucky, you may have received a "Civil Emergency" alert to your cell phones Tuesday afternoon.
The alert was sent to your cell phones via the Federal Communication Commission's Wireless Emergency Alert system mentioning "Extreme Alert" with civil emergency in your area until 11:50 a.m. MST.
However, the Emergency Operations Center had shortly sent out another alert saying their was no emergency after the first alert. Did you wonder about the incidents going on!
It was actually the accidental emergency alert sent out by the Frankfort Emergency Operations Center while testing the emergency alert system.
According to the Kentucky Emergency Management, they were testing the emergency alert system at the emergency operations center when someone accidentally sent out a live message instead of an in-house testing message.
Laurel County residents were scared when they saw the emergency alert from the Kentucky Emergency Alert Notification Systems, WKYT reported.
