A state of emergency has been declared after the freak snowstorm in New York State claimed lives of at least eight people in three days.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in ten counties. He even deployed the New York State National Guard to affected areas to help residents cope with the severe weather conditions with emergency operations centres activated on Monday night, The Independent has mentioned in its online edition.

All 50 states including Hawaii have experienced freezing temperatures on Tuesday morning, making it the coldest start to a November day since 1976.
More than four feet of snow fell in parts of Buffalo on Tuesday, while a second snowstorm is expected on Thursday, Associated Press reported.
The Blizzard of 1977 (Buffalo snow 1977) had claimed lives of 23 people
and affected the Western N.Y. state area upstate New York and Southern
Ontario.
