Give emergency preparedness gift for this holiday season

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region V office has encouraged everyone to give the emergency preparedness gift to their family members and friends for this holiday season.

“A gift to help prepare for emergencies could be life-saving for friends and family,” FEMA has written in its press release quoting the Region V acting regional administrator, Janet Odeshoo.

According to the FEMA, supplies of an emergency preparedness kit could be unique and potentially life saving holiday gifts that will help protect their family members and friends during a future emergency.

FEMA emergency preparedness kit gift includes NOAA weather radio with tone alert, first aid kit to fire extinguisher and fire escape ladder.

One could also consider giving a winter car kit, equipped with a shovel, ice scraper, emergency flares, fluorescent distress flags and jumper cables, FEMA has added.
