Federal Emergency Management Agency: US Emergency management agencies receive more than $1.6 M grants

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), emergency management agencies in five states of United States have been awarded more than $1.6 million in preparedness grants.

Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas have received the FEMA Preparedness Grants, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in its news release on September 25, 2014.

Arkansas FEMA Preparedness Grants: $149,515

Louisiana FEMA Preparedness Grants: $509,022

New Mexico FEMA Preparedness Grants: $120,016

Oklahoma FEMA Preparedness Grants: $637,349

The federal grants are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program and the primary goal of the AFG is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations.
