  • Landslide in Sankhuwasabha, Nepal
    -A landslide in Sankhuwasabha district of Nepal has claimed lives of at least five people.
    -The landslide occurred at Fachayang, Syabun-3 of Sankhuwasabha around 1:00 am Tuesday morning. Click for detail report on Sankhuwasabha landslide
  • Storm in Bratislava, Slovakia
    -Heavy rainfall and storm hit Western Slovakia and its capital Bratislava, Xinhua News Agency said.
    -The storm has also caused problems for Bratislava public transport.
  • Lightning strike in Scarborough, Canada
    -Lightning strike at Morningside Park in Scarborough, Toronto, Canada has injured four people.
    -Four patients were all from the same family, the Toronto Police said. They were seeking shelter at a picnic table under an oak tree, The Star reported.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Japan (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 27km ESE of Otsuchi. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Kamaishi, Yamada and Miyako.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Mexico (@ 47 km depth) with epicenter located 26km S of San Francisco del Mar. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Union Hidalgo, Salina Cruz and Juchitan de Zaragoza.

    -Mudslides and floods in Southern California have claimed life of a person and stranded thousands of people.

  • Volcanic eruption in Kagoshima, Japan
    -A volcano erupted around midday on Aug. 3, marking the first eruption of Mount Shindake in 34 years, The Asahi Simbun reported.

    -Bertha has became the second hurricane of the 2014 Atlantic season.
    -At 15:00 UTC, Hurricane Bertha was located about 370 km ENE of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas.
  • Hurricane Iselle
    -Hurricane Iselle is moving toward the west near 10 mph.
    -At 15:00 UTC, Hurricane Iselle was located 2,005 km E of Hilo, Hawaii.
  • Tropical Storm Julio
    -TS Julio is moving toward the west near 13 mph.
    -At 15:00 UTC, TS Julio was located 1,445 km SW of the southern tip of Baja California.

Natural Disaster News
  • Death toll from landslide in Sidhupalchowk has risen to 23 while over 100 people still missing in the incident.
  • Over 65,000 people have been evacuated in Bihar, India amid a flood alert, following a rise in the water level of Koshi river. Around 123 relief camps have been set up in Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria, Purnea, Madhubani and Darbhanga area.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Super Cyclone Amphan crossed West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts between Digha (West Bengal) and Hatiya Islands (Bangladesh) on May 20, 2020. At least 86 people have been died across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Amphan has become the first super cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal since the 1999 Odisha cyclone and the second-most intense tropical cyclone worldwide in 2020.

Kathmandu earthquake 2020: M5.3 earthquake shakes Nepal and India

May 12, 20202: Magnitude 5.3 moderate earthquake has been recorded in Dolakha, Nepal today with tremor even felt in several areas of Bihar, India at 11:53 pm local time.
According to the Nepal's National Seismological Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located around Jugu area of Dolakha district along Jiri-Khadichaur Highway. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth.
People of Kathmandu valley reported of light to weak shaking of MMI III-IV. The tremor was felt as far as Hetauda and Birgunj. 
People from several areas of Bihar, Indian also reported about a jolt felt at the same time. Most of the earthquake felt reports were received from Patna and Muzaffarpur.
No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the seismicity in the Himalaya dominantly results from the continental collision of the India and Eurasia plates. Magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal in 2015 killed nearly 9,000 people.

Bhaktapur Earthquake: Magnitude 3.4 earthquake rattles Kathmandu Valley

May 21, 2020: An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 has been recorded in Bhaktapur today at 8:14 am local time, the Nepal's National Seismological Center confirmed.
According to the Seismological Center, the epicenter was located around Anantalingeshwar, Bhaktapur. The tremor well felt across Kathmandu valley and adjoining areas.
No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
This is the second earthquake felt in Nepal today. Magnitude 3.0 earthquake was recorded around Uku area of Darchula today at 2:41 am local time.
