2.4 earthquake triggers fire in South Africa, 8 killed

Fire triggered by magnitude 2.4 earthquake at the Doornkop gold mine west of Johannesburg, South Africa has claimed lives of eight people.

Nine mineworkers were missing earlier after the fire broke out on Tuesday night which damaged electric cables, triggering the blaze, Xinhua reported quoting the National Union of Mineworkers. One body is yet to be recovered.

The tremor also triggered a rockfall about 1.7 kilometres underground at the Doornkop mine, west of Johannesburg.

Almost 50% of the world's gold reserves are located in South Africa.

  1. Hello,8 Let all the earth feare the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it stood fast. 10 The Lord bringeth the counsell of the heathen to nought: he maketh the deuices of the people, of none effect. 11 The counsaile of the Lord standeth for euer, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12Blessed is the nation, whose God is the Lord: and the people, whom he hath chosen for his owne inheritance.Thank you so much!!!
