World's strongest Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) kills 4,000 in Philippines!

The world's most powerful typhoon this year is expected to cross the central Philippines as a very powerful typhoon. The JTWC has analyzed Haiyan to be the most intense tropical cyclone worldwide since reliable records began, with one-minute maximum sustained winds estimated at 315 km/h (195 mph) with gusts up to 362 km/h (235 mph). -The city hall is reporting 4,000 fatalities now. However the NDRRMC has placed the death toll at 2,360, with 3,853 others reported injured and 77 missing.
-The NDRRMC said Yolanda destroyed 136,247 houses and damaged 117,802 others.
-Following Philippine Energy Official, it will take six weeks to restore power to typhoon zone.

-As of 07:00 PM, 10 November 2013, NDRCC is reporting 229 fatalities, 45 injured and 28 still missing.
-A total of PhP138,552,546.55 worth of damages to infrastructure and agriculture has been reported.
-Around 600,000 people have been evacuated in Vietnam.Typhoon Haiyan new path predicts it to make landfall south of Hanoi on Monday morning local time.
-At least six people on board a cargo vessel have been missing in Hainan province of China, Xinhua reported. More than 200 flights at Hainan's airports have been cancelled or delayed.

The death toll from Philippines Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) could reach 10,000, Philippines official said. Latest report comes from Regional police chief Elmer Soria quoting Leyte provincial Gov. Dominic Petilla.

-There are varying estimates of the number of fatalities, including at least 1,200 according to the Philippines Red Cross. However, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is reporting 151 fatalities, 23 injured and five others missing.

-New Zealand and Australia have donated an immediate US$490,000 towards relief efforts in the typhoon-ravaged Philippines. More disaster relief materials are coming in. A large UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team has been deployed in the disaster area.
-The storm is predicted to hit central Vietnam and the port city of Da Nang today. More than 2,00,000 people have evacuated to shelters.
-Similarly, a level three emergency response has been issued in China to prevent damage from the approaching Typhoon Haiyan,the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said.

-CNN is reporting more than 100 bodies in streets of Tacloban quoting the aviation authority official.
-According to the Philippine Coast Guard, around 3,398 people are stranded on multiple watercraft.
-Typhoon Haiyan is believed to be 3.5 times more forceful than Hurricane Katrina.

GMA, Philippines based news network is reporting at least 56 fatalities. Fatalities are from Tacloban City and Palo town in Leyte.
Two towns in Iloilo province have declared a state of calamity due to damages caused by Typhoon Haiyan.
As of 12 a.m. Saturday (Philippines time), the center of Haiyan was located 100 kms west-northwest of Coron, Palawan moving west-northwest at 35 kph. Typhoon Haiyan is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility around 2 p.m. Saturday.

-According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, death toll from Haiyan has risen to three. Fatalities are from Masbate and Zamboanga City. Typhoon also injured seven people, six in Guimaras and one in Zamboanga City.
-The China National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center (NMEFC) has issued a yellow warning for very high seas and monster waves.
-Haiyan is the 30th and strongest typhoon to hit China this year. It is expected to enter the South China Sea in two days, Xinhua reported.

Haiyan has made fifth landfall over Concepcion, Iloilo. By Saturday evening, Haiyan is predicted to be at 934 km West Northwest of Coron, Palawan, or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has suspended work in Metro Manila courts. The suspension order covers the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Tax Appeals, Sandiganbayan and the lower courts, Inquirer News reported.

Super Typhoon Haiyan has already made third landfall on Friday morning over the northern tip of Cebu province. According to PAGASA, Haiyan will make a fourth landfall over Negros Occidental. PAGASA expects Haiyan to hit land six times as it crosses islands.

-The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has reported  the first fatality from super typhoon Haiyan. The 56-year-old man killed after an electric post fell on him in Lingig town, Surigao del Sur
-According to the Philippine Coast Guard, there are  2,995 stranded passengers at various ports due to Typhoon Yolanda.

In Philippine, the President has already requested the military to deploy planes and helicopters to the region expected to be affected.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), local governments has evacuated several families in danger areas and suspended classes.

Super Typhoon Haiyan pounded Palau and parts of Micronesia early Thursday morning.

Kathmandu earthquake 2020: M5.3 earthquake shakes Nepal and India

May 12, 20202: Magnitude 5.3 moderate earthquake has been recorded in Dolakha, Nepal today with tremor even felt in several areas of Bihar, India at 11:53 pm local time.
According to the Nepal's National Seismological Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located around Jugu area of Dolakha district along Jiri-Khadichaur Highway. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth.
People of Kathmandu valley reported of light to weak shaking of MMI III-IV. The tremor was felt as far as Hetauda and Birgunj. 
People from several areas of Bihar, Indian also reported about a jolt felt at the same time. Most of the earthquake felt reports were received from Patna and Muzaffarpur.
No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the seismicity in the Himalaya dominantly results from the continental collision of the India and Eurasia plates. Magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal in 2015 killed nearly 9,000 people.

Bhaktapur Earthquake: Magnitude 3.4 earthquake rattles Kathmandu Valley

May 21, 2020: An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 has been recorded in Bhaktapur today at 8:14 am local time, the Nepal's National Seismological Center confirmed.
According to the Seismological Center, the epicenter was located around Anantalingeshwar, Bhaktapur. The tremor well felt across Kathmandu valley and adjoining areas.
No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
This is the second earthquake felt in Nepal today. Magnitude 3.0 earthquake was recorded around Uku area of Darchula today at 2:41 am local time.

The Tohoku earthquake and tsunami was of a magnitude 9.0 which occurred undersea off the coast of Japan on March 11, 2011. It was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in Japan.
The Tohoku earthquake and tsunami killed 15,899 and injured around 6,157 people. It is the costliest natural disaster in history with economic cost of US$235 billion.

According to the USGS, the earthquake in Nevada today occurred as the result of strike slip faulting in the shallow crust of the North America plate.

This earthquake occurred within the Walker Lane, an active zone of seismicity roughly aligned with the California-Nevada border.

Minor damages with broken windows have been reported in Tonopah. The earthquake also caused damage to US 95 in Esmeralda County. The sections of highway U.S. 95 were closed in Esmeralda and Mineral Counties because of damage.
