Federal Emergency Management Agency: Disaster assistance to New Jersey survivors of Superstorm Sandy
A total of $5.5 billion federal assistance has been made to New Jersey survivors of Superstorm Sandy till now, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in its news release on August 12, 2013.
According to FEMA, total of $3.5 billion National Flood Insurance Program payments have been made till date. Other includes FEMA grants, SBA disaster loans and FEMA Public Assistance grants.
Within this period, 261,883 people have contacted FEMA for help or information.
The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have encourage all businesses to prepare for future severe weather events.
Hurricane Sandy in 2012 had claimed lives of at least 286 people. Hurricane Sandy was the second-costliest hurricane in US history.
