  • Lightning strikes in Bihar, India
    -Lightning strikes in Bihar, India have claimed lives of at least 27 people including women and children, Disaster Management Department said.
    -A total of 27 including six children and three women died in last 24 hours by bolts of lightning across Bihar.

  • M 6.1 strong sea quake in Solomon Islands (@ 65 km depth) with epicenter located 89 km SSE of Lata. People of Sola will have weak shaking of MMI III.

  • Flooding in Slovakia
    -
    A flood emergency has been declared in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia.
    -The rising water level in the Danube River has reached 9.71 meters.

  • Alaska/Pavlof recent volcanic activity
    -
    An ash emission has been reported from Pavolof volcano.
    -The Alaska Volcano Observatory has raised the advisory level for Pavlof volcano from yellow to Orange.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • According to the latest National Hurricane Center Forecast, there is now a 50 % chance that a LPA over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico will develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.
  • Philippines weather forecasters are tracking a low-pressure area (LPA) that may enter the Philippine area between Visayas and Mindanao this weekend. If it enters as a cyclone, it will be named 'Dante'.


Natural Disaster News
  • The tornado that struck El Reno, Oklahoma some days ago is believed to be the widest on record in the United States. A 2.5-mile wide storm claimed at least 18 lives including six children.
  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has declared Eureka County in Nevada as a primary natural disaster area due to damages caused by recent drought.

It's important to know how we can prepare for natural disasters with proper emergency preparedness plan for less natural disasters damage. We have developed several natural disasters early warning system which provides warnings of natural disasters before they impact people and property. Hail storm in Chennai: 3rd time in 5 years

Hail storm hit Ayanavaram, Chennai between 1.30pm and 1.45pm Friday afternoon. Nungambakkam recorded 3.5cm of rain and Meenambakkam 1.1cm, India Meteorological Department said.
