  • Avalanches in the Alps
    -At least seven people have died in avalanches in the French and Austrian Alps.
    Avalanche in the southern French Alps: Four climbers died in Hautes Alpes region. The area is close to Italy.
    Avalanche in Tyrol Austria: Three skiers killed including a German skier near the Hoher Riffler peak in Tyrol.

  • Snowstorms across midwestern United States
    -Recent snowstorms have affected people of North Dakota, Minnesota and northwest Illinois.
    -Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports have cancelled more than 1,000 flights.
    -According to National Weather Service, Washington could get its biggest snowfall of the winter tomorrow (Wednesday).

  • M 5.3 moderate earthquake in Ryukyu Islands, Japan (@ 39 km depth) with epicenter located 118 km NNE of Nago.   • M 4.9 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Sumatra, Indonesia (@ 21 km depth) with epicenter located 12 km S of Pulaupanggung. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Bandarlampung, Telukbetung and Kotabumi.

    -Emergency authorities have warned the Jakarta's people to
    prepare for major flood in coming days.
    -Water levels have been recorded unusual in the dam at Bogor. In January 2013, massive flooding in Jakarta killed several people.
