  • Landslide in Kulyari village, Pakistan
    -
    Landslide in Kulyari village of Pakistan has killed two and injured one people.
    -Woman is in critical state and having treatment at Dagar Headquarters Hospital.
  • Forest fire in Mumbai, India
    -
    A huge forest fire has affected the area of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and a part of Film City (Bollywood) in Mumbai.
    -However, the fire which started from tribal areas near the forest hasn't destroyed any structure or harm anyone.


Recent Earthquakes
  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake Offshore Guerrero, Mexico (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 46 km S of Tecoanapa. People of Marquelia, Ometepec, Santiago Pinotepa Nacional and San Marcos will have felt light to weak shaking.
    22:03 UTC (local time Wednesday, March 06, 2013 at 04:03 PM @ epicenter) 
  • M 3.4 light shallow earthquake in Oklahoma (@ 15 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km NW of Prague. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Spencer, Broken Arrow, Jenks, Tulsa, Meeker and Prague.

  • M 5.0 moderate shallow earthquake in Nepal (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 39 km N of Salyan. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Dailekh, Birendranagar, Tulsipur, Dhangadi and Butwal. Click for the list of recent earthquakes in Nepal.

    Update 2013/03/07
    -Earthquake has damaged more than 30 houses including parts of building of Salle Airport. Damage is mostly seen in Musikot.
    Update 11:40 pm local time
    -NSC has finally updated information, magnitude 5.4 in Rukum district of Nepal. It is more than what EMSC and India seismological agency mentions.
    -Tremor was even felt in Tamghas, Purkot, Musikot, Shantipur and Baletaxar.
    -Have to wait for tomorrow morning for detail report. 

    Update 11:00 pm local time
    -Tremor was widely felt across western Nepal. Also getting felt reports from Pokhara and Baglung. People from Pokhara are reporting tremor for 10 seconds.
    -Nepal seismological center hasn't updated any information on its website till now.

    Earthquake today just at 22:35 pm on 6 march 2013 at butwal for 20 seconds.
  • M 2.6 weak shallow earthquake in Spain (@ 6 km depth) with epicenter located 12 km SE Totana. Weak tremor will have felt by the people of Cartagena.

  • M 4.2 light deep earthquake in Romania (@ 124 km depth) with epicenter located just 2 km S Siriu. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Nehoiu and Brasov.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation):
Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Angola (Cotundo), Australia, Bolivia, Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (Rio Juruena, Araquaia, Purus, Tocantins), China (Mekong, Xi Jiang, Brahmaputra, Yangtze, Indus), Colombia (Rio Negro), Honduras, Iraq (Shatt al Arab), Kenya, Mozambique (Chire), Pakistan (Indus), Peru (Ucayali, Rio Maraon), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile), United States (Mississippi, Arkansas), Vietnam, Zambia (Zambezi, Likando).

  • Coastal flooding in New Jersey, USA
    -Several people close to Toms River, Brick and Bay Head have moved to higher places.
    -New Jersey is expected to face its worst coastal flooding since Hurricane Sandy.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Etna, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Barren Island, Raung, Paluweh, Gamalama, Sakurajima, Kakar, Tinakula, Yasur, Tolbachik and Kilauea.
  • Sicily (Italy)/Mount Etna recent volcanic activity
    -Highest active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna has sent plumes of ash and lava into the sky.
    -Volcanic stones have covered the nearby roads.
    However no travel services have been affected in Catania.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
There are no tropical storm activity for today.

  • Landslide along Nabouwalu to Dreketi highway, Fiji
    -A landslide along the Nabouwalu to Dreketi highway in Fiji closed road for several hours.
    -Heavy rainfall caused flash floods and landslide in the area.
  • Hopkins Prairie Campground (Ocala National Forest) in Florida has been closed due to the forest fire.
  • Natural disasters in China killed 14 people in February, 2013. According to Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA), the disasters caused direct economic losses of 791.05 million U.S. dollars.

Will earthquake come again in Nepal? Any Chances/Possibilities?

Q: Will earthquake come again in Nepal? What are the Chances/Possibilities?
A: Yes, there is no doubt. Numbers of earthquakes are recorded in Nepal on daily basis but they are so small that they are not even felt by the people. If you are asking about an earthquake to occur on fix date and time, I would say it is impossible to predict such things. 
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), "Stating that an earthquake is going to occur today is not really predicting earthquakes. To date, they cannot be predicted. But anyone, on any day, could make this statement and it would be true." 
Earthquake prediction may some day become a reality, but only after much more is learned about earthquakes. Meanwhile, you may have heard different rumors. Some turns to be co-incidentally correct. But not every time. Please don't run behind the rumors!

Flooding in Mauritius capital Port Louis: 11 killed

Recent flash flooding in Mauritius has claimed at least eleven lives. About 152 mm rainfall has been recorded in Port Louis within three hours.

-Water supply is currently disrupted in the Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.
-Still one person from Grand Gaube, northern Mauritius is reported to be missing.

One more body is reported to be found. If the report is true, death toll would be 12. However have to wait for the official message.
