Recent Natural Disasters
  • Landslide in Jumla, Nepal
    -Landslide in Badki VDC of Jumla, Nepal has killed eight people. Five among the eight are members of same family.

    -Local people rescued two others from the landslide zone. Click for detail report on landslide in Nepal.
  • Landslide in Sao Miguel Island, Portugal
    -Landslide in Portugal has claimed two lives. Landslide occurred in the village of Faial da Terra on Sao Miguel Island (Azores Islands).
    -Firefighters rescued three children aged 5, eight and 16 and their mother from the mud landslide. Father died in the disaster. Click for detail report on landslide in Portugal.


Recent Earthquakes 
  • M 4.7 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Peru (@ 8 km depth) with epicenter located 8 km W of Huarancante. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Arequipa, Ayaviri and Mollendo.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Northern California (@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located 2 km NE from The Geysers. It will have well felt by the people of Cobb, Cloverdale, Kelseyville, Lower Lake, Middletown, Clearlake, Santa Rosa, Vallejo, Fairfield, Antioch and Vacaville.

  • M 5.1 moderate earthquake South of Panama (@ 7 km depth) with epicenter located 54 km S of Punta de Burica. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Boca Chica, Boquete, Buenos Aires, Los Naranjos, Mercedes, Puerto Cortes, San Rafael and Santiago.

    -Airport in Lord Howe Island is closed and emergency and disaster management resources are on standby.
    -A new cyclone Tim is heading for the Queensland coast.

  • Windstorm in Gabrovo, Bulgaria
    -Strong wind in Gabrovo region of Bulgaria has killed a 20-year-old woman.
    -State of emergency has been declared in Gabrovo district.
    -Nine teams of Fire Safety and Civil Protection are on the disaster zone. There is currently no power supply in Tryavna Municipality. Click for detail report on storm in Bulgaria.
  • Japan has given $1 million to Canada for shore cleanup of Tsunami debris.

A: Yes, there is no doubt. Numbers of earthquakes are recorded in Nepal on daily basis but they are so small that they are not even felt by the people. If you are asking about an earthquake to occur on fix date and time, I would say it is impossible to predict such things. 
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), "Stating that an earthquake is going to occur today is not really predicting earthquakes. To date, they cannot be predicted. But anyone, on any day, could make this statement and it would be true." 
Earthquake prediction may some day become a reality, but only after much more is learned about earthquakes. Meanwhile, you may have heard different rumors. Some turns to be co-incidentally correct. But not every time. Please don't run behind the rumors!

Flooding in Mauritius capital Port Louis: 11 killed

Recent flash flooding in Mauritius has claimed at least eleven lives. About 152 mm rainfall has been recorded in Port Louis within three hours.

-Water supply is currently disrupted in the Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.
-Still one person from Grand Gaube, northern Mauritius is reported to be missing.
