China earthquake today: 70 houses damaged in Urumqi

-Following China News, earthquake in Urumqi county has damaged atleast 70 houses. Almost all houses are mud made (as seen in image aside; ChinaNews.com). However no injury has been reported.
-Tremor lasted for 30 seconds or so.
-Following Urumqi Railway Bureau, Trains services were also halted for two hours.

There was moderate earthquake tremor in Northern Xinjiang, China today. Magnitude 5.6 earthquake was recorded by U.S. Geological Survey around 05:01 P.M. Tremor was well felt in populated areas of Urunchi and Changji.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake in China today was located 72 km WSW of Urunchi and Changji. It was 22.3 miles deep.

Following USGS PAGER MAP, light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of  Wujiaqu, Urunchi, Changji, Ergong, Changshanzi and Anningqu. People of Tiechanggou, Shihezi, Yanqi, Ewirgol and Dushanzi.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from China earthquake today.

China is frequently hit by earthquakes. China gives high priority to emergency preparedness policies, plans and practices. Deadliest earthquake of all time in China in 1556 claimed 8,20,000 lives.
