December 2012

November 2012

• November 12: Snowstorm across China
  China has issued an orange alert (second highest) for recent snowstorm.
• November 5: China snowstorms kill 3 Japanese tourists
  Three Japanese tourists killed in heavy snowstorms during a visit to the Great Wall of China.

October 2012

• October 16: Landslide in Hunan province of China
  Landslide disaster in a construction site in Shaodong county of Shaoyang city, Hunan province killed two workers.
• October 4: Landslide in Zhenhe, China kills 18 school children!
  Landslide in Zhenhe (Yunnan province) China buried 19 people. 18 among them are students of Youfang Elementary School.

September 2012

• September 22: Coal mine flooding in Heilongjiang, China
  Six trapped in coal mine flooding in Heilongjiang province in China.
• September 12: Flooding in Guizhou coal mine, China
  Eight workers missing in Guba coal mine floods in Guizhou province of China.
• September 11: Flash floods in Sichuan, China
  Six killed and four others reported to be missing in flash floods in Guangyuan and Suining area of China.
• September 7: Very strong earthquake in Yunnan, China

August 2012

• August 31: Landslide in Liangshan, China  
  Ten killed and 14 others missing in a landslide in a hydropower station in southwest China.
• August 25: Flash floods in Ningxia Hui, China  
  Five killed and one missing in northwest China.
• August 21: Flash floods in southern regions of China  
  Heavy rains and storms are forecast to hit southern regions of China today.
• August 17: Typhoon Kai-Tak in China  
  More than 18,000 people evacuated from the southern province of Guangdong.
• August 15: Flash floods in NW China  
  Two people are missing after flooding in Gansu province of China.
• August 12: Flash floods in Qinghai ,China  
  Four killed and one missing in flash floods in Qinghai province of China.
• August 10: Ten killed by Typhoon Haikui in China  
  Ten killed and 27 other injured in a dam burst (Shenjiakeng Reservoir) in China due to heavy rains caused by Typhoon Haikui.
• August 9: Typhoon Haikui in China

July 2012

• July 24: Typhoon Vicente in China  
  Three killed and six other reported to be missing in disasters in China caused by Typhoon Vicente.
• July 22: Flooding in Beijing, China  
  It is believed to be the heaviest rain in 61 years in Beijing.
• July 13: Flooding in China  
  At least 10 people reported to be killed in Hubei floods.

June 2012

• June 28: Mudslide in Sichuan, China  
  About 40 workers reported to be missing in mudlside in Sichuan provinceof China.
• June 25: Sixteen killed in in southern Guangxi Zhuang and Mongolia floods  
  Floods destroyed thousands of houses, forcing nearly 450,000 people to leave their homes. Around $ 20 million damage estimated.
• June 19: Floods and Landslide in China  
  Heavy rainfall caused flooding and landslides in southern and eastern China.
• June 9: Hail and rainstorms in Beijing, China  
  Heavy hail and rainstorms reported in Beijing today.
• June 6: Avalanche in Subei, China  
  Three killed and seven reported to be missing in avalanche in Gansu province.
• June 4: Heavy storms in China  
  "Blue alarm" (lowest emergency level) alert in Beijing. Heavy clouds changed Beijing almost in darkness.
• June 2: Wild fire in Heilongjiang, China  
  Forest fire reported in nature reserve in the Greater Hinggan Mountains in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
• June 2: Sinkhole in Nanning, Guangxi, China  
  More than 800 villagers evacuated after land sank in Guangxi province of China.

May 2012

• May 28: Moderate Earthquake Shakes China- Well Felt In Beijing, Tangshan And Tianjian  
  Two houses reported to have developed cracks on wall. However, there is no report of any injury. According to the Chinese seismological services, today’s earthquake is an aftershock of the M7.8 1975 Tangshan earthquake. 
• May 25: Heavy rainstorms in Guangxi Zhuang, China  
  Heavy rainfall caused disruption of railway traffic and drinking water supplies in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region of China
• May 3: Flooding in Heilongjiang Province, China  
  Atleast 10 miners are reported to be missing after flooding in a coal mine in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
• May 2: Landslide in Shennongjia, Hubei, China  
  More than 300 tourist evacuated after a landslide hit a forest resort in Shennongjia.

April 2012

• April 26: Strong winds and sandstorms in Xinjiang Uygur region, China  
  Strong winds and sandstorms forecast in some parts of south Xinjiang Uygur region, central and western parts of Gansu alongwith inner Mongolia and central and northern areas of Ningxia.
• April 18: Wildfire in Qipan Mountain region of China  
  More than 700 people including firefighters and local controlled the fire.
• April 15: Flooding in Shanxi, China  
  10 miners were killed after flooding in coalmines in Shanxi, China.
• April 12: Hailstorm in Jiangxi and Guizhou province of China  
  Three killed and at least 25 injured in China.
• April 10: Sixty six people killed by natural disasters within four months in China  
  According to the recent reports by Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) and National Disaster Reduction Committee (NDRC) of China, natural disasters have so far killed 66 and affected some 21.78 million people in first four months of 2012 in China
• April 9: Strong winds and sandstorm in Northern part of China  
  National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China has issued a BLUE ALERT for different areas of Northern China
• April 2: Biggest Sandstorm in Dunhuang city in western Gansu, China  
  Following local meteorological officials, Gansu province was hit by the biggest sandstorm in 2012 so far
• April 1: Landslides in Xingang, China  
  Two killed when landslide rocked a village in Xingang (Shanxii), China.

March 2012

• March 31: Strong winds in Urumqi city of China  
  Strong winds in Urumqi city of China killed three people and injured twenty one so far
• March 21: Sandstorm in Xinjiang and Gansu province, China  
  In 2010, biggest sandstorm killed atleast three people. In several parts of Gansu, like Minqin County, visibility was close to zero metre.
• March 19: Flooding in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, China  
  Snow melt and heavy rainfall flooded about 600 homes along with evacuation of 300 people
• March 8: Landslide in Likeng city of China  
  7 killed after a rain-triggered landslide in southern China

February 2012

• February 29: Extreme Weather (Snowstorm+Drought) in Western China  
  Extreme cold in northwestern Xinjiang region of China, $900,000 + damage reported
