  • Heavy storms across south and central U.S.
    -Storm in Nashville, Tennessee has killed one person.
    -Tornado in Mount Juliet,
    Nashville damaged the top floor of a three-story building.
    -Lightning injured a person in Monticello, Arkansas.
    -Storm damaged more than 20 homes in eastern Greene County in Indiana.

    -Tornado also damaged houses in  Elkins and Goshen in Washington and Berryville in Carroll County.

    -The National Weather Service is currently investigating reports of at least four more tornadoes in Arkansas and Mississippi.
    -Several tornadoes were forecast earlier in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi (Photo: Downed power lines in Indiana; Fox 59).

  • Very strong earthquake in Atacama, Chile
    -Magnitude 6.8 very strong earthquake hit Atacama, Chile with epicenter located 44 km N of Vallenar.
    -Following USGS Pager Map, strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Vallenar. People of Copiapo will have felt moderate shaking of MMI V. Similarly light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of La Serena, Coquimbo, Vicuna, Diego de Almagro, Ovalle and Monte Patria.
    -Magnitude 7.1 earthquake killed 2 people in Talca, Chile in March 2012.
    Update
    -One woman from Copiapo died due to heart attack.
    -Tremor was widely felt across Chile and Argentina.

  • M 6.8 very strong earthquake in Atacama, Chile (@ 46 km depth) with epicenter located 44 km N of Vallenar. Strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Vallenar. People of Copiapo will have felt moderate shaking of MMI V. Similarly light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of La Serena, Coquimbo, Vicuna, Diego de Almagro, Ovalle and Monte Patria.

  • M 4.8 moderate shallow earthquake in Atacama, Chile (@ 25 km depth) with epicenter located 103 km ENE of Diego de Almagro. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of  Taltal, Copiapo and Tinogasta (Argentina).

  • M 4.0 light earthquake in Yangon, Myanmar with epicenter located south of Yangon in the sea. It will have well felt by the people of Yangon, Burma (Myanmar).
  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Xizang-Qinghai Border Region (@ 37 km depth) with epicenter located Xizang-Qinghai Border Region. People of Nagqu, Qamdo and Golmud He will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 5.4 moderate earthquake in Philippine Islands Region (@ 46 km depth) with epicenter located 89 km NE of San Isidro. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Guiuan, Placer and Surigao.

    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Felleng was located 330 nm north-northwest of La Reunion.
    -Highest sustained wind is about 215 km/h.
    -Cyclone Felleng has become the strongest cyclone of the South Indian 2012-2013 storm season.

    -A wildfire is burning currently in Paarl, South Africa.
    -Firefighters are struggling to control the fire in Boland region in the Western Cape.
  • The Clarence Valley has been declared a natural disaster area. The Coffs Coast in Australia has also been declared a natural disaster area by the Prime Minister and NSW Premier.
