  • Snowstorms in Russia
    -Snowstorms in Russia have killed 21 people. Other 147 others were hospitalized with frostbite.
    -Daytime temperatures vary from  -17 to -20 in Moscow and minus 50 in Siberia.
    - Ice from the local river has plugged water pipes. People in town of Balashov, Saratov region were left without water.
    -Cold weather has also killed 37 people in Ukraine so far this month.
    -The low winter of 2012 in Russia has killed 45 people. Other 266 have been hospitalized.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Honshu, Japan (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 89 km NW of Noshiro. People of Kizukuri, Tenno and Goshogawara will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI II.

  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Negros - Cebu Region, Philippines (@ 91 km depth) with epicenter located 65 km S from Tagbilaran (Bohol). Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Cebu, Danao City, Dauin, Dumaguete City, Dumaguete, Mandaue City, Tagbialran and Talisay.

  • M 3.8 light earthquake Offshore Northern California (@ 19 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km WSW from Petrolia. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Rio Dell, Ferndale and Eureka.

  • M 3.5 light shallow earthquake in Brazil (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km far from Porangatu. It will have well felt by the people of Porangatu,  Mutunópolis, Mara Rosa, fraco, Forte, Montes Claros and Minas Gerais, Brazil.


Recent Flash Floods
Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Bolivia (Madre de Dios), Brazil (Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Dominican Republic, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq (Shatt al Arab and Tigris), Kenya (Tana), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile, White Nile), Syria (Euphrates), Tanzania.
  • Flooding in Cork and Waterford, Ireland
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Cork and Waterford region of Ireland.
    -Rain water also caused flooding on the Killarney Road at the Racecourse in Mallow.
    -Ballea Road from Carrigaline to Ballygarvan is impassable. Flood affected Waterford in Dungarvan at Garrenbane School.

  • Flooding in Scotland, United Kingdom
    -The Met Office has issued 24-hour severe weather alert for flooding in the east from midnight. Rainfall up to 50mm is forecast.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Santiago, Poas, Reventador, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Raung, Erta Ale, Paluweh, Gamalama, Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Manam, Ulawun, Tolbachik and Kilauea volcano.
  • Russia (Kamchatka)/Plosky Tolbachik recent volcanic activity
    -Eruption at Kamchatka's Plosky Tolbachik volcano is expected to continue for at least 2 more weeks.
    -The volcano has been spewing lava from two fissures along its southern slope.
    -The 3,085-meter Plosky Tolbachik is located 343 kilometers from the region's capital of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Plosky Tolbachik volcano erupted on November 27 for the first time in 36 years.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Cyclone Evan
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Evan was located 335 nm south of Nadi, Fiji.
    -An estimated 13,000 people are living in emergency shelters across the island.
    -Around 4,858 people remain in evacuation centres in Samoa.
    -Cyclone Evan killed four people in Samao. Damage to the main island of Upolu appears to be worse than from the 2009 earthquake and tsunami that killed 135 people.

  • Snowstorms in Colorado, USA
    -Heavy snowstorm caused delay of flights at Denver International Airport.
    -The National Weather Service has forecast 3-8 inches of snow in southern Utah and northern Arizona from Tuesday to Wednesday, and 6-8 inches of snow in some parts of Colorado.
    -The Utah Avalanche Center has also issued a warning for dangerous backcountry snowslides in northern Utah's mountains.
  • Death toll from Sri Lanka flood has risen to 16. Other 14 are still reported to be missing. Following Disaster Management Centre, some 175,558 individuals are reported to be affected by the bad weather. 
  • Wildfire in Wahring region of Victoria, Australia is now under control. Smoke was even visible in Wahring, Murchison East and Murchison.
