  • M 5.9 strong earthquake in Halmahera, Indonesia (@ 47 km depth) with epicenter located 122 km NE of Tobelo. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Tobelo and Ternate.

  • M 6.3 very strong earthquake in Sulawesi, Indonesia (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 56 km SSE of Palu. Moderate shaking of MMI V will have felt by the people of Palu and Poso. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Rantepao and Mamuju. People of Polewali, Majene, Bontang, Samarinda, Unaaha, Gorontalo and Kendari.   • M 3.4 weak shallow earthquake in Oklahoma (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 9 km E of Meeker. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Shawnee, Choctaw, Midwest City, Prague, Muskogee and Broken Arrow. Click for recent earthquakes in Oklahoma.

  • M 3.7 light earthquake in Canary Islands, Spain region (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 8 km NW El sauzal. It will have well felt by the people of Tacoronte and San cristóbal de la laguna.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Australia (River Murray), Botsawana (Savuti channel), Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (River Tocantins, River Madeira and River Amazon), China (River Mekong, River Huang He and River Brahmaputra), Colombia (River Japura, River Rio Negro and River Magdelena), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopio, India, Mali,New Zealand, Senegal, Sudan and USA.
  • Flash floods in Douglas county, Nevada
    -Recent flooding closed U.S. 395 in Douglas County south of Gardnerville.
    -The highway was closed in both directions in the vicinity of Ray May Way.
  • Flash floods in Northwest Alaska
    -Series of storms caused flooding In Northwest Alaska.
    -Worst hit are the Kivalina and Noatak areas.
  • Flash floods in Luzon, Philippines
    -Active low-pressure area is forecast to trigger flash floods and landslides over four areas (Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Aurora) in Northern and Central Luzon.
    -Following PAGASA, Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon may experience rain in the afternoon and evening.

Erupting Volcanoes: Popocatepetl, Fuego, Tungurahua, Villarrica, Etna, Erta Ale, Nyiragongo, Ol Doinyo Lengai, Sakurajima, Semeru, Batu Tara, Dukono, Manam, Ulawun, Yasur, Ambrym, Kilauea and Kizimen volcano.
  • Ecuador/Tungurahua recent volcanic activity
    - Continuous emission of ash and gases.
    -A plume can be seen above clouds extending NW from Summit.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Storm Helene
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TS Helene was located 105 km ENE of Tuxpan, Mexico and 190 km se of Tampico, Mexico.
    -A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the coast of Mexico from barra de nautla to La Cruz.
    -It is expected to make landfall in Veracruz later today. Some strengthening is possible before Helene makes landfall.
  • Tropical Storm Kai-Tak
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TS Kai-Tak was located 5 nm north of hanoi, Vietnam.
    -More than 700 villagers in Qinzhou, China reported to trapped by flooding caused by tropical storm.
    -Kai-Tak also affected more than 60,000 residents in the city of Fangchenggang.
