Recent Natural Disasters
  • Flooding in Maguindanao, Philippines
    -Fourteen villages in Maguindanao reported to be flooded. Maguindanao (Magindanaw) is a province of the Philippines located in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
    -Several people near the Tullahan River evacuated. Red alert issued in La Mesa Dam.
    -Most casualties of natural disasters in Philippines are caused by all types of floods, i.e., river flood, flash flood, and coastal flood.

    -Public Storm Warning Signal 2 for Calayan, Babuyan and Batanes and Signal 1 for Isabela, Kalinga and Apayao of Luzon.
    -Classes in several public schools and colleges suspended.

    Hari Madray from Lima, Peru: Was sitting at the computer when I felt the building rocking. Wow! Scary hopefully, No one was hurt.
  • M 3.2 light shallow earthquake in Bosnia and Herzegovina with epicenter located 10 km NE Zenica. It will have well felt by the people of Zenica and Kakanj.

  • M 6.0 strong shallow earthquake in Chiapas, Mexico (@ 36 km depth) with epicenter located 26 km SW of Ocos. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Ocos, Suchiate, La Libertad, Ciudad Tecun Uman, Puerto Madero, Champerico and Tapachula. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Mixco, Villa Nueva, Guatemala City and Tuxtla Gutierrez.

  • M 5.7 strong deep earthquake in Primor'ye, Russia (@ 501 km depth) with epicenter located 111 km NE of Svetlaya. The populated area is very far to cause any damage.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines (@ 87 km depth) with epicenter located 22 km ESE of Santa Maria. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of  Baganga, Bislig and Hinatuan.

  • M 5.7 strong earthquake in Myanmar (@ 68 km depth) with epicenter located 67 km E of Falam. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Falam, Mawlaik and Haka. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Monywa, North Vanlaiphai, Khawhai, Aizawl, Imphal, Mandalay, Sagaing and Silchar.

Recent Flash Floods
Ongoing Major Flash Floods: Afghanistan (River Amu Darya), Australia (River Darling), Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (River Tocantins), China (River Mekong and River Huang), Ethiopia, Honduras, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mali, Nicaragua (River San Juan), Nigeria (Benue), Pakistan (River Indus), Philippines, Sudan (River Blue Nile), Tanzania (River White Nile) and United States (River Rio Grande).
  • Flooding in North Korea
    -Death toll from North Korea flood has risen to 88. Floods injured 
    134 people and made almost 63,000 people homeless.
    -Some 300 public buildings and 60 factories reported to be damaged in the floods.
    -Floods were caused by typhoon and downpour from several days.

Erupting Volcanoes: Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Semeru, Kizimen, Nyiragongo,  Etna, Karymsky, Erta Alae, Dukona, Fuego, Puyehue-Cordón Caulle and Tungurahua Volcano.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Depression Damrey
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TD Damrey was located 
    approximately 236 nm east-northeast of iwo-to, Japan.
    -Damrey is forecast to become tropical storm by early tomorrow.
  • Tropical Storm Saola (Gener)
    -Tropical storm Saola is exepected to bring heavy rainfall in southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao region of Philippines.
    -Several roads impassable due to storms in Northern and Southern Luzon.
    Update
    A total of 15 domestic flights from Cebu Pacific Air (CEB), AirPhil Express and Zest Air being cancelled due to bad weather.

Recent Wildfires
  • Wildfire in Fort Tezon, California
    -Wildfire near the base of the Grapevine in Kern County has burned about 350 acres.
    -No damage or injury reported.
  • Wildfires in Siberia
    -
    About 37,000 acres burned by wildfire in Siberia.
    -Fire is at the highest emergency level according to the Russian emergency officials.
