Recent Natural Disasters

• Massive flooding in China
  

  

  Fuqing city of Fujian province, China; Source Asianews

  -At least 50 killed and more than 60 are still missing in China floods.
  -More than 10.4 million people are affected by downpours in 399 counties in Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou province.
  -Heavy rainfall since June 20 has damaged more than 90,000 houses.
  -During the Central China floods of 1931, deadliest of the 20th century,  the human deaths were estimated from 145,000, to between 3.7 million to 4 million.
• Heavy storm in Virginia, United States
  -Five people reported to be killed in heavy storms in eastern U.S.
  -Storm damaged several houses across Virgina and Jersey.

• M 4.7 moderate shallow earthquake in Eastern Xizang-India Border Region (@ 33 km depth) with epicenter located 81 km NNE of Tezu. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Pasighat, Dum Duma, Makum and Dibrugarh. Did you feel it?

• M 4.0 light shallow earthquake Offshore Northern California (@ 24 km depth) with epicenter located 77 km WNW from Ferndale. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville, Fortuna, Myrtletown, Cutten, Humboldt Hill, Rio Dell, Bayview, Pine Hills and Ferndale.

Volcanic Activity List

• Canary Islands, Spain/El Hierro recent volcanic activity
  -Following Scientists on El Hierro, the island has grown taller by 5cm as a result of the latest seismic activity.
  -1000+ earthquakes have been recorded around El Hierro within last four days.
  Update
  Following one of the regular visitor of this blog, some people are said to evacuated from Island region. The evacuation news is yet to be confirmed.

Flooding List

• Flooding in northeastern India
  -At least 27 people killed by flooding in northeastern India so far.
  -Flooding in Brahmaputra River affected around 2,084 villages across Assam State.
  
• Flooding in Florida
  -Seven killed in floods in Florida.
  -Flood warning remains in effect in Dixie, Lafayette, Taylor, Franklin, Wakulla, southwestern Jefferson, and southern Liberty counties.

Tropical Cyclone List

• Tropical Cyclone Twentyone
  -As of 03:00 UTC, Tropical cyclone (tc) 21p was located approximately 320 nm west-southwest of Honiara, Solomon Islands.
• Tropical Storm Doksuri
  -Tropical storm 07w (doksuri), located approximately 130 nm west of Hong Kong.

Natural Disaster News

• Wildfire in Arkansas, United States
  -Fire burned about 400 acres in southwestern Arkansas.
  -Several houses evacuated in Franklin County.
  -Fire is under control now.
