Felt Reports Received by Recent Natural Disasters
Daniel Scroggs: My Heart goes out to the Philippine people that they must endure such catastrophe, My wife and all her family are from negros and surrounding areas.Be sure that God is with you and will watch how you deal with this situation. Please be compassionate to each other in these times of need

PrussianBlue from Cebu: I was about to have lunch at work yesterday when my table started to shake. At first I was not alarmed for in all my life, the tremors I experienced were quick, mild and hardly caused any damage to property nor to people around me. But when the shaking increased and made clanking sounds of the lockers, burgeoning into that weird, creaking crescendo of the giant steel and concrete frames threatening to loosen the hinges, nuts and bolts right in front of me..... I prayed for dear life. Now, I am not the type to panic in times of calamity and natural disasters, though it did make my mind race in several directions what to do in case the rattling did not stop. Out of curiosity, I planted one hand on my desk, grabbed the back of a chair with the other one, and tried to peek down the basement which could be seen through the the crevic! e on the floor (normal design of the flooring) and at that point my breath almost stopped when the earth swayed right before my eyes. Little did I know that that episode was to be followed by at least six (more) aftershocks in the span of time from when I left my office till I was home that night. I was so thankful it was over and yet sad for those who never lived to tell the experience.

kyle anthony besanes from Cebu: Woah! I was in our school (Siena School of Naga, Cebu) during that 6.9 magnitude e.quake happened. At exactly 11:59 i guess, i wondered why my classmates were running,i was totally out-of-this-world...i thought there was an ``artista`` inside our campus, but then , someone shouted ``linog!`` ..i was completely stunned. But my classm8 grabbed my arms immediately and so we run as fast as we could to the quadrangle. The entire incident was extremely shocking. I thought that was the end of our lives

Reader from Philippines: My family, relatives and friends in Guihulngan are badly affected. They slept on top of a hill with nothing but mats. No lunch, no dinner, just sharing pan de sal and ice water. They are in need of water, food, and meds. I hope the national gov't. will help us since most of our roads are impassable. God, protect us from all harm.

San Fernando from Cebu: When I went to the air cooler to switch it on, I wondered why it was shaking. About 3 seconds passed before it registered on my mind, it was another after shock. Then 1 hour after, there was another one. God help us!

Neil from Cebu: Just felt the first after shock... still strong...
Nikol from Hinigaran: an earthquake just hit the town of isabela and hinigaran, here in negros occidental. a tsunami alert was also raised by the municipal govt.

Carole chabut from Cebu: brother & family in moalboal ; went to lindogon simala after tsunami alert ; said through sms everything was falling around in carcar

Nelson from Japan: I have no idea if the report is true, because some people in colon area already evacuated and many people were panicked.

”Cebu_earthquake_photo_Climb_rooftop_following_Tsunami_Alert”
by Phivolcs; gmanetwork
Clare retez from Philippines: how true is this? the eruption of canlaon volcano due to earthquake?

Malou Suson Alcoriza from Cebu: I was eating my lunch around 11:49 when suddenly i felt a very strong shake...I am from Medellin, Cebu...I thought the Sports Complex were about to collapse...coz we were eating our lunch there...as a preventive measure we all went out and stayed on the street for almost 10 minutes..observing aftershocks..I still feel dizzy as maybe as an effect of the strong quake..all classes here were suspended..and tsunami warnings were issued to remind the residence for their safety..I thank the Medellin Municipality of their fast action...and continued updates either online and announcements around the town...thank you so much..

Janice Borromeo Sacayan from Philippines: My family and relatives in Badian Island southwest part of cebu was badly hit by the tidal waves..just seconds after they felt the quake...
Yudaninja from Cebu: ALL OF US HERE WORKING IN A CALLCENTER LOCATED IN CEBU, WE WERE ADVISED TO GET OUT FROM THE BUILDING. IT WAS REALLY SCARY SINCE WERE ON THE 6TH FLOOR. WE REALLY FELT HOW STRONG THE INTENSITY IS.GOD HELP US!!!

Mona from Philippines: ..i dont know what to do pls..help..

Bret from Cebu: I live in the far north of Cebu about 200km from the epicenter and I felt a strong shaking followed by a feeling of nausea. My computer monitor was rocking back and forth. Also we have large fish tanks about 8 meters across and the water in them was slopping from side to side even 15 minutes after the event. We had a smaller quake about 6 months ago about 20 km from us but this felt much worse.
Jc from Philippines: I thought I was just dizzy while checking news feeds on facebook but next thing i felt was that my desktop pc's table was swaying without me touching it.

Neil From Cebu: It was the strongest quake so far i experienced... I was currently in the office. The electricity went out and we hid under our tables.

Maria Joanne From Philippines: It was strongest ever experienced. Houses shook for several seconds. Still tremor!! what is this god!! after Washi!! then This quake Help LORD!!

Gemi from Mansilingan: just got out from home, It was strong and long..still shaking!! Painting fell. table jumped!!

EMSC Felt Reports
Cebu City: I was in a deep sleep then I was awakened by the sudden shaking Of my bed. I could also hear the rumbling noise of our house... was scary...

    4. Well you never know why GOD does what HE does. But you have to consider HE might not approve of how HE is worshipped with idols such as Santo Nino. It's not Biblical. HE wasnt' pleased by the GOLDEN CALF either. Read the Old Testament. GOD is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

    5. Santo Ninio means Holy Child. He is the Child Jesus. Cebuanos worship him as our God, not as an idol similar to a golden calf. You should consider shutting your mouth as your ignorance regarding the Catholic faith becomes too obvious...

  7. Typical Filipino comments about everything being in the hands of God! Much better to put your faith in strong houses and sensible precautions. This, and similar events, have nothing to do with God, nor will He intervene to protect you. This is a natural disaster, the causes of which are well enough understood and not preventable. All you can do is ensure you build well enough to cope with them.

Those people who have been affected don't need your prayers. They need practical help to minimise any further harm and then to re-build. That is the best way to show some love and care for your fellow man. Expecting God to do it is just being lazy!

  9. After the earthquake this afternoon we had experienced and witnessed two light tidal waves. the first one was like an automobile running from the sea towards the estuary beneath the bridge of Pulo, Baliwagan, Balamban, Cebu. then when the waves returned to the sea it took along with it all the files of garbage. the second one was like rising sea waves running to the shore but lighter that the first one. at this time around 6:50 P.M. we had experienced another strong aftershock causing panic to inhabitants who had just returned from the mountains after being advised by the police that it was already safe to return since the warning had been lifted up. i hope that the government will not play dumb on these innocent people. i hope that they will let these people stay at the evacuation centers at the mountains until tomorrow afternoon or after the 20th aftershock will be through.

Buildings need to be stronger and when a natural disaster happens we must be prepared to help. Just praying and hoping seems a pretty futile activity at this time!

  16. It isn't God who lets these things happen. It is the Church which claims to speak for Him. Religions are organised by men. God speaks in your heart. You may not be Buddists, I am not either, but this quote makes good sense at this time:-

UNLESS it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense"
