Peshawar flood 2013 prompts emergency

Emergency has been declared in Hayatabad and Regi areas of Peshawar after flooding. Flash flooding in Bagh and Chitral region of Pakistan have claimed lives of at least four people and left two missing. Flash floods triggered by a heavy rainfall have washed away about 45 houses in Chitral. Flood damage has been reported from around 150 houses. Flood water has also washed away a bridge between Chitral and Boni. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to local officials in providing disaster relief to the flood-hit people in Chitral. Flash flooding in Bagh and Chitral region of Pakistan have claimed lives of at least four people and left two missing. Flash floods washed away a car in Bagh district in Azad Kashmir claiming lives of three people while another person was found dead in nearby village, Dunya News reported. At least two people are reported missing in flood waters in Hajeera near Rawlakot. Flash floods triggered by a heavy rainfall have washed away about 45 houses in Chitral. Flood damage has been reported from around 150 houses. Flood water has also washed away a bridge between Chitral and Boni. Recent floods have affected people in Bagh, Rawlakot, Chitral and Sibbi region of Pakistan. Panama landslide kills 4 of a family

Landslide in Panama has claimed lives of four members of a single family, including a six-year-old girl. Landslide hit a house in Cristobal, in the community of Villa Ludmila, Colon province of Panama where five members of a family were sleeping. 3 killed in Myanmar flooding, 33,500 sheltering in disaster relief camps

Myanmar flooding has claimed lives of at least three people and has send nearly 33,500 people in disaster relief camps. Rain triggered natural calamities have affected Karen and Mon State of Myanmar. The United Nations has delivered medical aid including water purification tablets to flood affected areas. The Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge over the Moei River has been closed due to heavy rainfall, the Disaster Relief Department said. Jammu and Kashmir earthquake shakes Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana

Update 22:00 UTC Another moderate earthquake has hit Jammu and Kashmir region with epicenter located 12 km ENE of Kishtwar. People of Amritsar, Gujrakhan, Gujranwala, Lahore and Rawalpindi region of Punjab have felt light to weak shaking. Tremor was even felt Federal Capital Area of Pakistan Islamabad located 266 km far. Update Tremor was felt in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. M 5.4 moderate earthquake shakes Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana region of Northern India today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 13 km SE of Kishtwar, India (Jammu-Kashmir region). It was 9.8 miles deep. It was well felt by the people of Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar (Punjab), Chandigarh, Haryana, Mohali, Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) and other neighboring areas. Spain wildfire out of control, 130 evacuated

About 130 residents have been evacuated after wildfire in Spain raged out of control. Fire is burning near Valdepenas de la Sierra, some 80 kilometers northeast of Madrid. Nearly 350 emergency workers with 21 aircraft and 43 ground vehicles are struggling to control the Spain wildfire. Forest fire last week on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca burned 2,335 hectares.
